Operator Press is an independent business publication covering the operator-class founder economy of 2024 through 2026 — small, distributed, agentic-first companies, and the people running them. Coverage decisions are made by the named contributors listed on About.

We publish weekly. Our voice is dry and observational. The template, as much as we have one, is the founder-profile piece you would read in a business publication that has been around long enough to have a copy desk: a kicker, a dek, a long working piece, and a corrections-tracked archive. We are skeptical of overclaim. We prefer a placeholder to a fabricated specific.

Official tagline

Covering the new wave of founder-led software.

Founding date

The publication launched in March 2024.

Vol/Issue convention

Operator Press numbers issues as Vol. {V}, No. {N}. The current issue is shown in the masthead and at /issues/.

Logo lockup

The wordmark is set in Source Serif 4, bold, optical-size 8–60, tracking +0.02em. The lockup is the wordmark alone — there is no secondary mark. The wordmark may appear in ink-blue or in black on a bone background, or reversed out to bone on ink-blue.

Downloadable assets: SVG wordmark (full color), SVG wordmark (mono). PNG variants available on request; write to press at operator.press.

Brand palette

  • Ink#0d0d0d — body type, masthead
  • Graphite#2a2a2a — secondary type, muted body
  • Slate#5b5b5b — metadata, dates, datelines
  • Bone#f6f3ec — page background
  • Rule#dcd7c8 — column rules and dividers
  • Ink-blue accent#1c3a5e — kickers, links, the accent rule

The accent is used sparingly. The publication is paper-first; the ink-blue is the underline color, not the background color.

Typography

Headlines and body type are set in Source Serif 4. UI, kickers, datelines, and metadata are set in IBM Plex Sans. Code samples (rare) are set in IBM Plex Mono. The full type stack is documented on our style guide.

Masthead bios

Bios and the masthead are at /contributors/. Every contributor owns their own page with a contact handle.

Use of our brand

Writers and producers may reference Operator Press and cite individual pieces under fair dealing. We ask that the citation include the byline and a link to the original piece on this domain. We do not allow the wordmark to be used in a way that implies endorsement of a product, company, or campaign.

For longer republication — anything beyond a paragraph in length — please write to press at operator.press. We are generally permissive for academic and non-commercial use, and we are generally restrictive for commercial use.

Press contact

press at operator.press — for press inquiries, image requests, and republication permissions. We try to respond within three business days. Tips and corrections go through the channels listed on /contact/.
