Editorial pitches
Send pitches to editorial at operatorpress. Open the email with a one-paragraph summary of the piece, the proposed length, and the operators or companies who would be quoted on the record. We are particularly interested in long-form profiles, regional reporting from outside the major coasts, and teardowns of small-team software companies. We try to respond to pitches within two weeks. We commission a small number of contributor pieces per quarter.
Tips and leaks
Send tips to tips at operatorpress. Tips are read by a senior staff editor before anything else happens. If a tip leads to a piece, we honor the source's on-the-record / on-background / off-the-record convention as agreed at the start. We do not name a tip source without explicit permission.
For sensitive material, contact a specific contributor through the handle listed on their contributor page and arrange a secure channel directly.
Press inquiries
Send press inquiries to press at operatorpress. We respond within three business days for image requests, brand use, and republication permissions. The standing press kit lives at /press/.
Corrections
Send corrections to corrections at operatorpress. Corrections are made promptly. A notice runs at the bottom of the corrected piece with the date and the specific text changed. The standing log lives at /corrections/.
